Charles Tabbed Newcomer of the Week for Fourth Time This Season
For the fourth time this season, Veronica Charles has been tabbed OVC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Charles led the Eagles in scoring last week, posting double-figures against Tennessee State and Lindenwood, marking her seventh consecutive double-digit scoring performance.
The 5-foot-4 guard averaged 18.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, and 5.5 steals per game. Her 20 point performance to help lift the Eagles to a key victory was her fourth 20+ point performance this season.
With her 11 steals last week, Charles now has 84 steals on the season, placing her all alone in second place for the most steals in Morehead State history. She now sits 11 steals behind the all-time record set by Chynna Bozeman in 2010-11.
Charles and the Eagles now head to Charleston, Ill., Wednesday to take on Eastern Illinois in a pivotal matchup.
