Eight Football Eagles Selected to All-PFL Teams
Eight Morehead State student-athletes were honored on the All-Pioneer Football League teams, announced this week. The Eagles garnered two second-team accolades, while six were honorable mention.
The second-teamers are running back James Louis and offensive lineman Cam Marriott. Marriott finished his career with three consecutive All-PFL nods. Those earning honorable mention are: defensive lineman Tom Flood, defensive back Cooper Krezek, defensive lineman Nick Lavender, long snapper Brady McKnight, offensive lineman Jaxsen Spears and defensive lineman Sid Weddington.
Louis, a sophomore back from Hillside, N.J., became a viable threat in the run game, including three 100+ yard games. Louis finished with a team-best 780 yards on 131 carries and also had 114 receiving yards on 13 catches. He scored six rushing touchdowns and had a breakout game at Dayton, rushing for a career-high 195 yards and two scores. Louis also had 100+ yard games versus Kentucky Christian and Marist and totaled 409 yards in the final three games.
Marriott, a senior from Redlands, Calif., appeared in 50 career games and made 45 starts, including a string of 42 straight at one point. This year, the center helped the Eagles generate 338 yards per game and score 12 rushing touchdowns. Marriott consistently graded as one of the Eagles' and the PFL's highest-rated lineman.
Flood, a graduate student from Lombard, Ill., played in eight games and had 33 total tackles. Flood recorded 4.5 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks and forced a fumble. His best game came at Dayton, where he made nine tackles and a TFL.
Krezek, a junior safety from Kansas City, Mo., ranked among the PFL's top stoppers. He finished with an even 100 total tackles to lead the team. Krezek was also a disrupter elsewhere, leading the team with eight tackles for loss, six pass breakups and three fumble recoveries. He also forced a fumble and blocked three kicks.
The junior defensive tackle from Jacksonville, Fla., Lavender notched 30 total tackles. He recorded 3.5 TFLs, 2.5 of which were sacks. He also led the team with three quarterback hurries. This is his second career All-PFL selection.
McKnight a sophomore from Stephens City, Va., had another solid season snapping, recording zero bad snaps and helping MSU convert 11 field goals and 28 extra point kicks. He was a freshman all-American in 2021 and All-PFL.
Spears, from Plainfield, Ind., helped MSU average 338 yards per contest and played and started in every game.
Finally, Weddington - from Valley Center, Calif., and a transfer from Palomar (Calif.) College - had 28 tackles. He also tied for the team lead with three quarterback hurries and recovered one fumble.
