Power Five Road Trips and 24 Home Games Highlight 2023 Baseball Schedule

In a mere 65 days, the Morehead State baseball team opens up the 2023 season in hopes of capturing its first OVC Tournament Championship and NCAA Regional berth since 2018. The upcoming season kicks off in Norfolk, Va., on Feb. 17 with a four game set vs. Norfolk State.

2023 marks Head Coach Mik Aoki's fourth season (third full season) at the helm of the Morehead State baseball program, as he and his squad look to build off a solid 2022 season. The Eagles finished third in the OVC with an overall record of 27-27 and a 14-10 mark in conference play. MSU returns seven of nine regular starters from last season, including First Team All-OVC infielders Jackson Feltner and Nick Gooden. Also returning are Second Team All-OVC members John Bakke (LHP) and Roman Kuntz (OF/DH).

Morehead State christens the newly renovated Allen Field on Feb. 24, opening up a four game series with Saint Peter's. Other non-conference home tilts include matchups with Eastern Kentucky (March 14), Ohio (March 21), Canisius (April 6-8), Bellarmine (April 18), the University of the Cumberlands (May 2), and Marshall (May 10). Home OVC contests include series with longtime rival Tennessee Tech (March 31-April 2), the reigning OVC Tournament Champion SEMO Redhawks (April 21-23), Eastern Illinois (May 5-7), and new OVC foe Little Rock (May 18-20).

Four road trips to Power Five schools highlight the nonconference road schedule, as Morehead State heads to Knoxville, Tenn., for a three game series with last season's SEC Champion Tennessee Volunteers on March 10. Just a week later, the Eagles head to Bloomington, Ind., for another three game series vs. the Indiana Hoosiers on March 17. MSU also faces off with Kentucky (Feb. 28) and Louisville (March 7). MSU is set to face former OVC foe Samford in a three game set (March 3-4), as well as Ohio (April 4) and Northern Kentucky (April 25).

In OVC play, Morehead State visits two new OVC members in Southern Indiana (March 24-26) and Lindenwood (April 14-16), as well as road tilts with UT Martin (April 28-30) and SIUE (May 12-14).

The OVC Tournament will be played in Marion, Ill., this season at Rent One Park.
