Charles Tabbed Co-Newcomer of the Week After Double-Double Performance
For the third time this season, Veronica Charles has been tabbed OVC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Charles received the honor alongside Tennessee State's Erica Haynes-Overton.
Charles led the Eagles to their first OVC victory of the season, tallying her third double-double of the season against the Tigers with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The 5-foot-4 guard continues to lead the team in rebounds this season and once again flashed her defensive abilities with six more steals over the two games. Her 3.62 steals per game lead the conference and is currently fourth in the NCAA.
Charles and the Eagles return home on Jan. 5 for a matchup against OVC newcomer Southern Indiana.
