Football Thrilled to Welcome 14 Mid-Year Transfers for 2023 Roster

Morehead State Football has reloaded with the addition of 14 mid-year transfers.

The newcomers include seven offensive student-athletes, six on the defensive side of the ball and one specialist.

All will join the Eagles for spring practice. 

The newest Eagles include: 

VJ Anthony - TE - HIGHLIGHTS

Played at Hanover (Ind.) under Head Coach Matthew Theobald … Caught 17 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown in 2022 … Won a state championship as a sophomore at Louisville Male High School under Head Coach Chris Wolfe … Father Vincel Anthony played in the NFL with the Denver Broncos.

Nate Boehm - WR - HIGHLIGHTS

Played at Mercer under Head Coach Drew Chronic … Caught one pass for five yards in 2022 while seeing action in five games … Played at Veterans High School (Ga.) under Head Coach Milan Turner where he had 39 catches for 560 yards … A two-time all-region honoree in high school.

Nick Chrest - DB - HIGHLIGHTS

Spent two years at Sam Houston under Head Coach K.C. Keeler … Played at Cy-Fair High School under Head Coach Jeffrey Miller … In 2019, helped lead his team to the state quarterfinals … Father Craig played for the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns (NFL) before playing with the Michigan Panthers (USFL) … Brothers Jaxsen (Sam Houston), Maxx (North Texas) and Cody (Harvard) all played Division I football.

Britt Eakins – RB - HIGHLIGHTS

Joins brother Torbyn as Eagle newcomers … Played at New Oxford (Pa.) High School for head coach Jason Warner … Had 487 rushing yards and eight touchdowns as a senior … Huge junior year with eight TDs and 915 rushing yards … Also compiled 16 sacks his final two years and 32 tackles for loss … Helped NOHS to two conference titles … Named First-Team All-District two times … Father Jeff spent time coaching in the NBA G-League.

Torbyn Eakins – OL - HIGHLIGHTS

Joins brother Britt as Eagle newcomers … Transfer from Seton Hill (Pa.) where he was on the team in 2021 and 2022 for head coach Daniel Day … Scored a pair of touchdowns as a junior and senior at New Oxford (Pa.) High School for head coach Jason Warner .. Helped team win first division title since 2002 as a senior … Named First-Team YAIAA as a tight end … Father Jeff spent time coaching in the NBA G-League.

Ben Haywood - DB - HIGHLIGHTS

Spent two seasons at the College of the Sequoias (Calif.) under Head Coach Travis Burkett … Compiled 18 total tackles and two interceptions at COS … Graduated from Cape Coral High School in Florida, playing under Head Coach Larry Gary.

Paul O'Brien - DL - HIGHLIGHTS

Played at Yuba Community College (Calif.) for two seasons under Head Coach Mike Pettingill … Led YCC in tackles for loss as a sophomore … Named all-conference in both seasons there … Played under Head Coach Ryan Reynolds at Sutter Union High School in Yuba City, Calif.

Will Paar - TE - HIGHLIGHTS

Spent two years at Louisville under Head Coach Scott Satterfield … Named to Academic All-ACC Team … Won three Regional Championships and a 6A state championship under Head Coach Hunter Cantwell at Christian Academy of Louisville … Had 34 catches for 710 yards and eight touchdowns … High school team captain.

Hayden Petersen - DB - HIGHLIGHTS

Played two seasons at Fresno City College (Calif.) under Head Coach Tony Caviglia … Recorded 48 total tackles and two interceptions during his time there … Played under Head Coach Matt Giordano at Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif.

Zane Porter - DB - HIGHLIGHTS

Spent two years at Marshall under Head Coaches Doc Holliday and Charles Huff … Saw action in eight games on special teams at Marshall … State runner-up three times at Spring Valley High School (W.Va.) under Head Coach Brad Dingess … Recorded eight interceptions as a high school senior with 58 tackles.

Caleb Ramseur - RB - HIGHLIGHTS

Played two years under Head Coach Robby Snelling at Butte College (Calif.) …Compiled 1,148 all-purpose yards with 10 total touchdowns at Butte … Played at Monterey Trail High School in Elk Grove, Calif., under Head Coach Ty Ewing … Piled up 1,648 yards rushing yards and 17 career touchdowns at MTHS … Named all-metro and all-league

Thomas Schwartz - K - HIGHLIGHTS

Played at Iowa Western College under Head Coach Scott Strohmeier … Played soccer, basketball, and football at Treynor High School in Iowa … Named First-Team All-State in soccer and District 9 Kicker of the Year in football.

Bradley West - WR/RB - HIGHLIGHTS

Spent two years at Louisville under Head Coach Scott Satterfield … Caught one pass in a win over South Florida … Won three 6A state championships at Trinity High School (Ky.) under Head Coach Bob Beatty … Named MVP of the 6A state championship game as a junior and senior.

Logan Wong - OL - HIGHLIGHTS

Played at Modesto Junior College (Calif.) under Head Coach Rusty Stivers … Played in 11 JUCO games … Graduated from Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, Calif .. Was a starter at TDHS his final two seasons where he helped his team to the regional title game.
