5.2% of Carter County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Carter County recorded an unemployment rate of 5.2% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 480 people out of the 26,820 living in Carter County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Carter County has increased compared to the 5.1% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Carter County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.3%.

Of the 8,719 people who had a job during that time, 14 were employed in the Armed Forces and 8,705 belonged to the civilian labor force.
